Many moons ago, Brian and his fellow tuba playing buddies from the Clemson Tiger Band decided amongst themselves the gender of the children that the four of them would have. Two of the tuba players were supposedly destined to have beautiful little girls who would have to be cautioned to stay away from the little boys that the other two tuba players would father. Brian was picked to have boys. Everyone thought this was pretty funny and then went on with life. Several years later, we can all look back and truly laugh hard, because the "tuba prophecy" is now correct for 7 out of 7 children in 4 families. Our three friends each have 2 children of the gender predicted by this college laugh, and we have a little boy on the way. (The H's have a third child on the way, but we don't know yet if it is a boy, so we will have to see if the prophecy goes 8 for 8.) Wow! We are very excited about this news. Of course, we would have been happy with either a boy or a girl, we are just happy to know that everything is going well. During the ultrasound on Monday, the doctor was able to check the baby's bone structure, brain, heart, kidney, stomach, and diaphragm development. They were able to turn on a flow measurement to determine that blood is flowing properly through all four chambers of the heart and through the umbilical cord. It is truly amazing what they can see. The still photos don't do the procedure justice, because it is just incredible to watch the baby wiggle on the screen, but I hope you enjoy the profile view of the little guy's head and torso that I attached to this post. He is facing up. Next appointment is Valentine's Day - no cool pictures, just routine doctor's visit.
