Ta-Da!!
Scott Andrew arrived this morning - on his own terms.

Anne received news that she was to be induced this morning due to low fluid levels. We reported to the hospital at 6:45 and once on the baby monitor, we found out that the little man planned to arrive all on his own. It all went pretty quickly.
Anne and Scott are doing great.
It was good to have Anne’s mom here in town. We are looking forward to showing off the new member of the family. Pictures coming soon.

No cool ultrasound pictures
The ultrasound on Thursday was grainy and we didn't get any cool pictures to share. The two pieces of good news are 1) that the little guy is head-down, which means that the prominent lump is his butt and 2) that he and I passed the monitoring test with flying colors. His heartbeat and amount of wiggling were good, and my uterus is doing what it is supposed to be doing - having mild contractions that I hardly notice. The slightly annoying news is that the amount of amniotic fluid is a little low, so now I have to visit the doctor twice a week instead of just once a week so they can keep tabs on him. The doc also said that they will not let him go very far past term. We're getting closer now!

More appts
I went to the doctor's office on Monday afternoon for my routine appointment. My blood pressure remains rock steady and low, which is good news because my ankles have been slightly swollen of late. This is a very minor problem, and I continue to feel good and have a pretty good amount of energy. My belly measurements are on target, so the little guy is in there growing just like he should be, and his heart beat is strong and steady.
As it turns out, though, I was supposed to have been scheduled for a different type of appointment, where they hook up an external fetal monitor and observe the baby for 20 minutes. Somehow that instruction wasn't given on my chart the last week, and I had the last appointment of the day - too late to do the monitoring. So, I have to go back to the doctor within the week to do the monitoring. This will be a weekly occurrence until his due date or his birthday, if that comes first. If he is late, I think I have to go more frequently than weekly, but we'll cross that bridge if we get to it.
The other thing that was decided at this appointment was that I need an ultrasound to determine exactly how he is positioned. He is definitely not ideally lined up. He is more sideways, and there is still some discussion about whether the prominent lump that presents itself when I lay flat is the head or the rump, so an ultrasound was ordered.
Monitoring and ultrasound are both scheduled for Thursday afternoon. If we get a good ultrasound picture, I will try to post it this weekend.

Tuba Prophecy Continues...
Just a little side note about the Tuba Prophecy (see previous "It's a boy" post) - our friends the H's had a little boy yesterday, so the count is now 7 for 7 accurately predicted babies. If our little guy is born "as advertized" by the ultrasound, then the streak will be 8 for 8. Wow!

Family Photo
Here's a picture from a recent field trip where I got to take Brian to see the construction of a project I designed. I am very fortunate that I feel good enough to keep going strong at work, which includes hard hat tours of construction sites. I love my job! :)
Is it May already?
I saw the doctor again on Monday and all is well. The baby's heartbeat is strong and steady and I am feeling good. Brian and I both had bad colds / sinus infections last week, but we are much better now.
As it turns out, the big lump that shows up every time I lie flat is most likely the little guy's bottom, and not his head. Either way, he's still rather sideways, but he has plenty of time to line himself up. I have another appointment in 2 weeks, and then we will be close enough to the due date that I will start weekly appointments.
