Snow Skiing at Sugar Mtn

We went to Sugar Mountain this weekend for some fun snow skiing. Brian and I discovered that toting gear for two small people is tough duty, but we had a really good time once we got into the groove. Scott went to a full day of ski school on Saturday and LOVED it. He was full of all kinds of advice for us when he was finished. Meanwhile, Brian, Meg and I enjoyed the slopes as a team. She had a great time going "really fast with Daddy." She even entertained people on the slope by singing at the top of her lungs on the way down. Let it go... Let it go... I can't hold it back anymore... The funniest thing that happened occurred at the beginning of the day when both of Meg's skis and boots slid right off her feet near the end of the chair lift ride. Thank goodness they landed within a short easy ski of the unloading area and we were able to get them back on. Turns out that we had not tightened the boot straps and they just popped right off when Brian hefted her over so he could set up for unloading. Quote from the ski lift operator was, "Well, now I have seen everything."

Both kids had a great time and told everybody within earshot how great skiing was. Meg chatted up the people in the lodge, telling them how fast she had gone with Daddy, and danced to the band while we waited for Brian and Scott do do a few last runs of the day. An unsuspecting ski patrol guy got on the three person lift with Brian and Scott and was deep in conversation about safety and skiing the whole way up. He told Scott, "You would be a great help on ski patrol." Chest puffed out, Scott had a great ride...

This is Meg's small snowman that she made before we got going.

Scott's ski class. He is the last one - near the middle of the frame. The yellow jacketed adults in front and back are the instructors.

This is the late afternoon view from the condo we rented for the weekend.

MONSTER JAM!

For Brian's birthday a few months ago I gave him tickets to take himself, Scott, and a friend to Monster Jam this weekend. All three boys had a blast. They recounted tales of death defying spins and jumps over dinner.

Brattonsville hog butchering

We went with the cub scout group to see the annual hog butchering even at Brattonsville historical site. They had some great volunteers in period costumes demonstrating several every day tasks - hog butchering, soap making, cooking, yarn making, etc. The kids had a blast and they learned where you get bacon.

Second Christmas

We had a great weekend with Grandma and Grandpa for Second Christmas! Scott is definitely a master Lego builder and Meg is quite the puzzle professional.

newest pedal pusher in the family

Meg has developed a new skill over Christmas vacation. She can now pedal, and she is quite thrilled with her new found freedom of movement around the cul-de-sac. The first time she got up to a good speed she was so excited that she squealed at the top of her lungs.
