March Appointment Results

I was happy to find out that the results of the glucose test taken last Friday were good - mostly because it means I do NOT have to take a 3 hour test where they draw blood 4 times. Yea! The nurse says I do not have gestational diabetes and I am not anemic. WooHoo!

Pregnant Lady and Seals in CA

For those of you who haven't seen me recently - here's a photo that was taken on our recent "pre-baby get away trip" to the CA coast. This photo was taken at an overlook where you can see elephant seals basking in the sun on the beach below. They even had a step stool for short people, so of course I used it!

Baby Shower

My good friend Meg threw a fabulous baby shower for me. She had adorable plane decorations everywhere, and she even made 2 plane shaped cakes! One was for guests and the other was for Brian. Adorable "like new" hand-me-downs were also used to decorate the house, and now our little guy has loads of clothes in his closet - all the way up to 12 months! The games she picked out were pretty cute. For Baby Shower Bingo each guest gets an empty bingo card. They get to fill out the spaces with anything they think will be received as a gift, and then mark them as the gifts are opened. The person who got bingo first won a prize. We also had "Guess that Safety Item" and "Guess that Baby Food Flavor". The highest number of correct answers won a prize. Jennifer excluded herself because she said she knew all the baby food flavors as soon as she looked at the colors. The rest of us were sniffing and taste testing (with small pretzel sticks) to see if we could figure them out. There were a lot of funny faces over the green mush that ended up being revealed as green beans. I thought those tasted awful, and I guessed they were peas - not green beans. Of course, they will probably end up being our little boy's favorite... It was a fun party, and it was great to see so many friends and family all together.

March Appointment

Today I went to the doctor's office for a routine visit and for a 1 hour glucose screening. The screening is standard procedure - they test everyone around 28 weeks. It isn't bad - you have to drink about 8 ounces of what tastes like flat orange cola, sit around for an hour, and then have some blood drawn. No big deal. I don't have any of the symptoms of gestational diabetes, so I am expecting the results to come back "good" on Tuesday or so. Doc says everything is looking good, and that I am "definitely expanding". He laughed when he said that, because it was obvious that I already knew that I was sporting a basketball sized belly. The frequency of doctor's visits steps up at this point to every 2 weeks instead of monthly. My next appointment is April 8th.

My good friend Meg threw a fabulous baby shower for me last weekend, and I haven't had a chance to post anything about it. I will try to get a picture or two posted this weekend.

Happy Easter!
