Wheels in the cul-de-sac

The weather was fabulous this morning, and we had lots of fun in the cul-de-sac with several varieties of wheels.  The first few pictures are of Brian pulling both of the kids on the cart that he made back when Scott was about the size that Meg is now.  The boys had a few REALLY FAST runs, then Scott was a great big brother and held on to Meg so she could have a nice ride, too.  He is so sweet to her!  Scott rode around on his big wheel, and Meg was watching his every move, so I put her on the tricycle and pushed her around.  She LOVED it!  Every time we would stop she would start bucking around in the seat trying to make it go again.  Another speed demon in the making... She  also wanted to chew the strap on her helmet... I think there will be some new teeth soon to add to the two she has now.

  

Messy Miss Meg

Meg has a tendency to use her food as facial moisturizer / hair gel.  This is a picture of dinner a few days ago.  This morning when we were out in the cul-de-sac with friends someone said, "Why, Meg, you smell like syrup."

The other really funny thing about this picture is that Meg's teachers have figured out a way to make tiny little pigtails in her hair.  It is pretty hilarious.  You might have to look hard to see them, but they are there!

Meg's furry buddy

Our big orange cat, Riggs, is too sweet (or foolish) to run from Meg, even though she drools all over him and pulls his fur.  We "help" her pet him so that she doesn't yank the fur.  You would think that he would run from her, but as soon as she catches up to him, he lays down... and lets her love on him.  He is such a sweet cat! 

I love you THIS much, Riggers!

Playing in the living room

Playing on a Saturday afternoon in the living room... Meg the "standing baby" (She is not a "walking baby" yet according to Scott, who talks about the "walking babies" that are in the class ahead of Meg at school....), and Scott, the Lego King.

Scott's new bike

Scott has a new bike with "only two wheels, Mom!" (Best if you say this really loud while holding out a thumb and pointer finger.)  He is getting much better at balancing each time he rides it, though he is not ready to be own his own quite yet.  Still needs a steady hand on the back of the seat every once in a while to prevent a crash.  It won't be long until he is pure speed... 

Inland Lake 2012

Inland Lake is one of our favorite places on the whole planet, and we had a great trip this year, with Duck & Daddee, Grams & Pops, the 4 of us, and Matt, Jennifer, Austin, Andrew, Mary, Sarah, and Rose. 

Inland Lake 2012 - Grams bday

Jennifer (in her party hat below) organized a great birthday dance party for Grams.  Meg enjoyed her hat and dancing with Brian. It was hard to get pictures of Scott because he was dancing so fast!

Inland Lake 2012 - tube & ski

We had a great time at the lake, and lots of people went tubing, skiing, and kneeboarding.  Meg likes riding in the boat with Grams. 

Inland Lake trip 2012 - the big jump

So, Scott went to the lake with Grams a day ahead of Brian, Meg, & I and he wanted desperately to go up on top of the boathouse and jump like all of his cousins.  Grams wisely said that he could not go up there until his parents arrived.  Minutes after we arrived, he was ready to climb up. A quick glance over the side and he was no longer so confident... so all the kids jumped and showed him how they did it... and then the daddies jumped  (Matt and Brian).  Scott even asked me to jump, so I did.   (What parents will do for their kids!) He had to think about it.  So he climbed down... and back up again... and back down... and back up again.  Suddenly, when Brian & I were looking at something else for a nanosecond, Andrew said, "There he goes!"  The only picture I was able to get of Scott jumping is the one where he is half out of the frame, but I included it here so you could see his method = "see no evil".  He got big kudos from his cousins and fist bumps from Dad.  Cool!  He is getting to be such a big boy!
