Smiles and bows

Meg's wonderful smile:The infamous bow biter - trying to look innocent, but the marks on the red bow in front of him betray his guilt...

Rainforest gym and tiger face paint

Meg is starting to coo, smile and play. Here she is playing with the rain forest baby gym. Scott got his face painted like a tiger at the Christmasville festival this weekend. He LOVED it. We had lots of fun - and a few "firsts", including funnel cake, the Ferris wheel, and face paint. After his face was painted he said, "I all different, Mommy!" He giggled the entire way on the Ferris wheel, and he is a big fan of funnel cakes. We also saw a parade, rode a horse drawn carriage, and Scott got to ride a pony. It was a HUGE weekend. Scott was sad that we had to wash the face paint off in the evening before bed. I told him that it had to come off, or it would get all over his sheets. He said, "I look up, Mommy. I not get it on the sheets." Nice negotiating skills, but it still had to come off...

Angel on top

The Christmas tree is up and the last thing to go on is the angel on top. Scott gets to do it this year, and probably next year, too before Meg gets her turn.

Discovery Place Kids

These pictures are from a trip we took to Discovery Place Kids. We spent a whole day there, and Scott loved it. The airplane driving picture just does not do justice to the level of activity and fun that was going on there. In spite of the water resistant apron you see in the one picture, Scott managed to get his pants soaking wet, but it didn't slow him down and it eventually dried. Meg was very good the whole day. (Side note - if you go back through the last few posts you will notice Scott wearing the same Buzz Lightyear sweatshirt over and over again. It is a favorite, though it is starting to get too small to pull over his head. He is also a big fan of his army outfit, which typically spends no time in his drawer because he wears it as soon as it is out of the laundry and is sad that is has to go back in the wash.)

Lineup of lightweights

Weighing in just shy of 8 lbs, uncooperative Lowry is the lightest contender on the couch. The smallest Butterball turkey I could locate for our Thanksgiving feast is approximately 8.75 lbs, and Meg tops out the lightweight category at a whopping 9.5 lbs. You go girl!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Go back to November of 2008 to see a picture of Scott in the same little bib and hat. He was almost 6 months at Thanksgiving, so he was bigger than Meg here at 5 weeks. We looked at the photo album this morning and talked about when he was a baby.

Sunday newspaper

I went to the kitchen for a cup of coffee and Scott had "organized" my Sunday paper for me when I returned...

Visit with Ralph & Sandy

We enjoyed a nice, though too-short, visit with Ralph and Sandy. Scott has declared that we must go back to Uncle Ralph and Aunt Sandy's house as soon as possible and go to Uncle Ralph's river so he can drive the boat.

Meg's First Flight

Meg took her first flight this weekend. Scott was quite pleased that she liked the pink headphones that he gave her. The first two pictures are of Meg in the plane and Brian piloting. These are views of the backseat passengers on our short hop. Scott loves to talk to us now, so we have to make sure we discuss when to talk and when to be quiet before each flight. Scott took this picture of me all by himself, and he took the picture below it of the wing and the horizon. I am starting to think about getting him a camera... Here we are coming back to the airport, just about ready to turn a left base for 20 at UZA. Meg is very content.Photographic moment after the big flight - Brian, Meg, and Scott with N33728. Post-flight snooze. I think the headphones are nearly as big as Meg's head, but they work well.

Happy Veteran's Day

Big brother and little sister

Scott was playing peek-a-boo with the little animals on the infant swing for Meg, and she seemed very interested. He is a great big brother.

Happy Halloween!

We had a fun time tonight for Halloween. Meg wore her ghost shirt, but she stayed home. Superman went trick-or-treating, and was THRILLED with the idea that people were handing out CANDY!!! He was also fascinated with the yard decoration where the cat popped out of the pumpkin. We made a round and then came home, where he was equally thrilled with handing out candy. I think Scott has a new favorite holiday...

Grandma's Girl

I love this little outfit that says "Grandma's Girl", and Meg is awake for a little bit here.

Trip to the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra

Grandpa & Grandma got tickets for us to go to the CSO Halloween concert for kids. It was great fun - there were lots of instruments to try before the show, then they played a fun selection of well known classics that are dramatic for Halloween, with a puppet show that went along with the music. The finale included the Ghostbusters coming in to rid the stage of the monster, and the team was available for pictures outside the theater after the show. We had a great time! Scott really enjoyed the harp and the trombone.
