Lake House

This weekend we went to my grandparent's lake house. It was Scott's first visit there, and his first boat ride. We celebrated his upcoming birthday with Duck, Daddee, Grams, Uncle Matt, Aunt Jennifer, and ALL the cousins: Austin, Andrew, Mary, Sarah, and Rose. It was a great weekend.

Trip to the Beach with Aunt Meg

We went to the beach for another picnic dinner with Meg one Friday evening. Scott really had a ball playing at the water's edge. He wanted so much to go deeper into the water...

Spaghetti Monster

Scott and I had spaghetti picnic in the backyard for dinner this evening. He LOVES spaghetti, but it is pretty messy, so we usually feed it to him in really small amounts, cut into bite size pieces, on a spoon. (You get the idea - it's like that game called "Operation" where you try not to touch any of the edges with the spaghetti.) I thought he would enjoy having a chance to go "all out" and get a little messy. He loved it. Here's the picture of the spaghetti monster:

Mother's Day Walk

On Mother's Day evening Scott took his first unassisted steps. We were over visiting Grams and Pops on Sunday. Brian and I were busy gathering all of the gear so we could pack up and leave, and Scott was playing with Grams. He was standing by himself really well, so she moved a few steps in front of him and urged him to come. He did! Then he did it again and came to me. Yea! He was so tickled with himself - grinning and giggling over his new skill. Of course, all of our stuff was just packed up, so we do not have a picture of the moment. I am sure he will practice again soon...

Fun at the park

We went to the park this morning after breakfast for a short time. Scott really loves the swings. As soon as you put him in the swing he starts giggling...

Trip to the Zoo

Our zoo has a great interactive play area called "Paws On". We had lots of fun there on Sunday afternoon.Scott has gotten pretty good at standing without holding on, but he is still a bit reluctant to walk without having something to grab.

Kitchen Adventures

Here is a picture of Scott trying to climb into the dishwasher. He is REALLY quick at scooting across the room. He lulls you into a false sense of security by playing intently with toys on the opposite side of the kitchen, then - just when you think it is safe to open the door and put something in - he makes a run for it! Hand, hand, foot, foot - and he is in there...

This small pan and wooden spoon can keep Scott entertained for a l-o-n-g time (except when the dishwasher or refrigerator door is open). He bangs them together or on the floor and he loves to hold one in each hand and then spin around in a circle. The pan is pretty loud on the tile floor, so the cats tend to clear out of the kitchen when he grabs the pan.

Beach Picnic Dinner

We went to the beach this evening for a nice picnic dinner. Scott enjoyed walking around, squealing at the birds, flinging sand, building a sand mountain with his dad, squishing fingers and toes in the wet sand, and being upside down. (Of course, being upside down is one of his everyday favorites.)
